I’ve been subscribing to Digital Photography Magazine for the last few months, and every time an issue gets here I feel a new wave of inspiration and enthusiasm for photography. This is a good thing. Today I walked around my house and took a few photos, mainly of the flowers around.
Here’s a small gallery. I hope you like the shots.
This Saturday, May 7th, the 39th Annual UC Riverside Shotokan Karate Championships took place at the University of California, Riverside. I was on deck to take photos. It was a fun tournament.
I had some issues taking the photos; there wasn’t quite as much light as I’d hoped, so I had to crank up the ISO all the way to 1600, and you can definitely tell by how noisy some of the photos are. But I did only what I had to do. Hope you like them.
By the way, the UCR Karate website is here.
It happened again: it snowed in La Crescenta. I grabbed my camera and ran outside; here are a few photos: gallery.
In a recurring experience or dream or journey or illusion, I woke up in San Francisco again one morning. It was rather nice, this time including the weather. I got to see Alcatraz and Marin county before I once again woke up down in Riverside. Life’s all about journeys, isn’t it?

This past weekend I tried out snowshoeing for the first time with a couple of friends. We went up into the San Bernardino National Forest, and it was pretty fun.
Here‘s a gallery of mostly landscape photos from the trip.
And here are some more personal snaps:
Yup, that’s me. Photo by Hunter Kirkwood.
Ethan was ready for anything.
Here’s a few pictures from Hollywood. Trying to get back in photo-taking mode this winter break.
Line of people waiting to get into a preview screening of TRON.
A man in a movie about insomnia and soap asked, “If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?” And hey, maybe you could.
One morning, I woke up in San Francisco. I had my camera with me, so here are some pictures. I felt sloppy taking them; it feels like I’ve been out of practice. Probably because I have. Not much going on around Riverside, you know. Hey, there’s another reason why it’s nice to wake up in a different place every now and then.
If you look closely, you might be able to spot the surfers. Also notice the two kite surfers under the bridge.
Spent a weekend there, being very busy and important. Thought I’d show you how nice it looks.
